Property Tycoon Sentenced to 20 years for murdering his wife

Jason Rohde, former Sotheby's executive has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for the brutal murder of his wife at the Spier Wine Estate in 2016. Rohde was found guilty of murdering his wife and staging a suicide after she discovered an extra marital affair was ingoing between him and an employee.

Rohde murdered his wife susan with his bare hands and wrapped an electric cord around her neck. The Judge, Gayaat Salie - Hlophe described his act as gruesome and a contributor to the high rate of femicide in South Africa.

Rohde's legal team have indicated that they will be appealing the conviction.
