Filipino newlyweds ride away from ceremony sitting together on husband's old pushbike
This is the heartwarming moment two newlyweds ride away together after getting married - sitting together on the husband's favourite bike.
Groom Ramil Quicio, 49, and bride Emerita, 63, were wed in a church ceremony in General Santos City, the Philippines, last Friday (July 26).
While the guests drove away from the nuptials in cars or motorcycles, the couple chose Ramil's old blue bike adorned with flowers and a 'just married' sign with cans trailing behind them.
Footage shows the bride in her white gown having a 'croggy' while her husband rides at the front.
They had to briefly stop and borrow a bike pump after suffering a flat tire before continuing the cycle journey to the reception.
Beaming bride Emerita said they chose the unusual transport because the bike has sentimental value for them.
She said: "My husband rides that bike every day to work and back home again. It is special because it's a part of our life. The bike feels like part of the family. We wanted it to be part of the day. It was romantic the way I was sitting on the back and my husband was cycling.''
Ramil works as a construction worker while Emerita is a Zumba dance instructor. The small-town couple from Bula village met each other a bit later in their lives but they said that it's all worth the wait.
Emerita was a widow with five children when she met Ramil. They dated for a year before they decided to tie the knot on July 26, on Emerita's 63rd birthday.
