Light-fingered bank worker caught on hidden camera pocketing cash in Thailand
This is the shocking moment a bank worker was caught on hidden camera allegedly pocketing customers' money - using the proceeds to live the high-life.
Colleagues became suspicious after the amounts taken at the counter and the sums in the back room given to the central bank were different.
The worker had allegedly been stealing notes every day for several years without punishment - even after colleagues complained at the UOB branch in Pathum Thani, Thailand.
She allegedly short-changed customers who had not counted their own money, then deposited smaller amounts into their accounts.
Colleagues set up hidden cameras which caught her removing several 1,000 baht (25GBP) notes from a tray and stuffing them into her uniform pocket.
Footage shows a moment the worker entered the room and carrying the money basket before she picked a couple notes form it and put them in her right pocket.
One furious colleague said: ''Customers gave her the money every day and she gained their trust. The customer just handed the money and let her count, that is how she stole it.
"She had been doing this for years. I sent the video to the manager but there was no punishment for the culprit, so I spread it out."
The female clerk had allegedly been using the stolen cash to fund shopping trips for designer clothes and had even brought cars and a house for herself with it.
The bank said they would now investigate the worker after the video was made public.
A spokesman said that officials would attempt to trace the money. They added: ''The worker in the video has been identified and questioned but investigators need to find where she has spent the money before we can proceed.''
