Articulated lorry jackknifes on wet road smashing straight into oncoming car
This is the dramatic moment an articulated lorry jackknifes on a slippy road - smashing straight into an oncoming car.
The truck was travelling behind another vehicle when it lost control on the wet surface in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand last Saturday (21/09) afternoon.
It spun to the right covering the opposite lane before a family in a silver Toyota smashed into the truck.
CCTV footage from a roadside house captured the terrifying crash which appeared to have been caused by heavy rain at the peak of the country's monsoon season.
Two passengers were pulled from the Toyota and taken to hospital for their injuries, which were not life threatening.
Rescue workers said that Watcharaporn Waewkekee, 27, was unconscious after the crash while Phoothadon Wattanapronjira, 32, had leg pain and cuts on her body but was conscious.
Staff from the Miracle of Life volunteer rescue service said both women were taken to hospital.
The said in the accident report that one woman was severely injured but now stabled while the other suffered minor injuries.
They added: ''The CCTV and pictures from the scene have been given to police to investigate. The driver of the lorry was not hurt after the crash but he was upset and shocked. The initial investigation shows that it skidded because of the rain on the road.''
