Parents of schoolchildren attending Alpine Primary in Beacon Valley, Cape Town staged a flaming protest as the vandalised toilets have prevented kids from going to school.

Footage from January 22 shows the disgruntled parents and the shocking state of the toilet facilities.

Vandalism and theft has forced parents of Alpine Primary in Beacon Valley Mitchell's Plain to close the school after the toilets were vandalised and unable to be used late last year.

The parents staged a protest and kept learners at home for the second day after failure by the Western Cape Education Department offering a viable solution.

The principal claims that they have been complaining since last year but the Oversight member for local parliament, Ricardo Mackenzie says he received a call yesterday.

School governing body members also backed the principals claims but added that the principal is also part of the problem.
