A shopkeeper has been flooded with orders for bizarre Valentine's Day bouquets made with cuddly monitor lizards.

Arisa Nuchan, 24, (pictured) had the idea to use colorful reptile dolls instead of ordinary flowers, which she began selling from her nail salon in Ratchaburi, central Thailand.

She was astonished when orders began coming in for the strange gifts. More than 1,000 have now been sold online.

Footage from yesterday (Feb 12) evening shows Arisa preparing the lizard bouquets for delivery. Customers also put loving messages inside for their Valentine.

Arisa said she is receiving more than 50 orders a day and is working into the early hours of the morning to keep up with demand.

Prices range from 350 Baht for small bouquets, 550 Baht for medium size, and 1,500 Baht for large sizes.

Arisa said: "The unique thing about these is that nobody else is selling lizard boquets. It's a new idea, so it has been popular.

''I believe that most customers want to change the idea of giving 'romantic' gifts and want something that is more fun and colourful.''

Monitor lizards are regarded as lucky in Thailand and have been nicknamed 'Money' lizards, with superstitious beliefs that they herald good fortune.

However, insulting someone by calling them a lizard, or 'hia' in the local dialect, can also be a grave insult.
