A father and son rescued a cute Madras hedgehog in the southern state of Tamil Nadu while travelling to school together.

The incident happened at Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district on February 21, at around 3:00pm.

The animal strayed into the residential area when it was spotted on the road.

Murugan and his son Sivapragasam were on their way to Aruppukottai on their motor vehicle when the hedgehog rolled down to the middle of the busy road.

Swiftly, the father-son duo halted their vehicle and rescued the animal from the middle of the road.

The hedgehog was handed over to the Srivilliputhur forest department.

The forest officials praised Murugan and his son Sivapragasam for their good deed.
