Authorities in India helped at least 87 residents, including three women and an equal number of children, stranded across states- due to the ongoing countrywide lockdown- return back to their home in Indian administered Kashmir.

Visuals filmed on April 26 at a bus terminal in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, showed passengers sitting in rows, maintaining the required distance from one another, while authorities checked their documents.

The passengers are then boarded onto three buses as they leave for their hometown.

According to reports, at least 57 out of the 87 people have been identified as students, who were trapped in the outlying states of Himachal Pradesh.

The stranded people were ferried to Jammu via Lakhanpur barrier on three private buses.

The passengers were provided with essential food items, masks and sanitisers by the administrative staff.

A thorough medical checkup of all the commuters was done by the district administration in Solan.

The vehicles too were sanitised.
