Forest officials rescue baby elephant from dry agricultural well in southern India
Forest officials in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu rescued a baby elephant who had fallen inside a dry agricultural well while visiting the facility in search of water.
The incident took place in Denkanikottai near Aiyur Forest of Krishnagiri district on May 2.
According to reports, the baby, along with other pachyderms, had gone near the well to drink water, when the former slipped and fell inside.
Visuals showed officials using firecrackers to chase the other elephants. An earthmover was used to fill the side of the well with soil, making a slope for the baby pachyderm to climb out.
The adorable baby was seen struggling a little before managing to scale the well boundary. Once out, the playful pachyderm chased the earthmover for a few metres.
Forest officials were informed by locals, who witnessed the distressed elephant herd.
The elephant was later reunited with its mother.
