This is a heartwarming moment two workers performed CPR to rescue drowned puppies in Thailand.

The frail pooches were found in small pool of water near a construction site in Trang, southern Thailand on June 3.

A stray mother dog who picked one of her litter from the water then returned and sat by the edge, sparking concern from nearby builders.

The workers went over pulled two more puppies out of a 23-inch deep pool and found that they were already unconscious, so they began chest compressions on them both.

Footage shows the puppies spluttering back into life after several minutes of relentless resurrection from the men.

Elated worker Somboon, 42, said he saw the mother dog take one of the puppies out of the water but the she went back and sat by the pool.

He said: "We were curious why the mother dog went back to the pool and was sitting beside it instead of nurturing her wet pooch.

"We went to check at the pool and found that there were another two puppies drowned so we retrieved them and returned to our hut.''

He added that they were prepared to bury the puppies but then they had a second thought.

He said: "After we brought the mother dog and her puppies to the shelter we thought the newborns were already dead. Then we think that we should try to give them CPR first and I am glad that we did.''

Somboon's colleague Somjai, 46, the little pooches are now safe and were rearing by their mother in the local area, where they roam freely.

He said: "I think it's better for them to be adopted by the locals because our work here is only temporary, so we will leave soon.

"We were worrying that when we were gone they might have a hard time finding food but we cannot adopt them ourselves."
