Rescue team save puppies stranded in floods in Thailand
This is the heartwarming moment a rescue team saved seven puppies stranded in floods.
Volunteers helping to search through the deluge that has battered northern Thailand heard the babies whimpering as they sheltered under a pile of logs in Sukhothai, Thailand, on August 26.
Footage shows the litter of frail pooches being carried to safety by the workers from the Prasat Boonsathan Rescue Foundation.
The puppies were taken in a boat to a shelter where evacuated residents are being held. They have since been taken in by the paramedics who saved them.
It came as hundreds of animals were stranded in their homes due to heavy rain and flash floods that have battered large parts of Thailand.
Officials at the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that at least 22 people have been killed in different regions and more than 30,000 have been displaced. Much of the damage was caused by landslides.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
