This is the dramatic moment an animal rescue team revived a stray dog with CPR after it collapsed due to the heat.

Prachit Sukhawatana, president of the Sawang Mongkhon Thammasat Rescue Foundation, spotted the unconscious pooch as he was driving to a market to eat noodles after work in Lom Sak, Phetchabun province in Thailand on April 4 evening.

He saw the mangy black dog convulsing in the middle of the road, so he parked his car and went to help it.

Dramatic footage shows the rescuer pumping the stricken animal's chest while street vendors doused it with cold water. They also gave it some water to drink.

After several minutes, the canine regained consciousness and staggered away.

Prachit said: 'At that time, I didn't know how to find help. I thought the best way I could save the dog was to perform CPR. I also noticed that its body was very hot.

'I'm very happy that I was able to save the dog's life. In the past, I only did CPR on people. This is the first time I've done it on a dog.'

Noodle vendor Amporn Warayut, 52, said the stray often roamed and played in the area, and was docile with passers-by.

She said: 'This dog had been fainting since the afternoon. My friends and I poured water over it until its condition improved, but it still seemed weak. It collapsed later that night, so we rushed to help it.'

She added that she has not seen the pooch since she closed up shop that day, and was unaware of its current condition.
