Selfie seeking commuters prevent herd of wild elephants from crossing road in Sri Lanka
A herd of wild elephants faced difficulties in crossing a road after several commuters stopped their vehicles in an attempt to click a few selfies with the pachyderms in Sri Lanka.
The incident took place in Digampathaha, along the Dambulla-Habarana main road, on June 8.
The video shows the herd of elephants walking through the forest trying to cross the road meandering through the area.
However, their efforts are spoiled by countless of people stopping on the road to spot them.
A group of women can be seen trying to take a photograph while another family is seen in front of their halted car getting a glimpse of the wild elephants.
The video also shows a series of cars parked at the side of the road at the elephant corridor with people walking around holding on to their families and children.
Such interventions lead to stress in the wild animals who are often fearful of seeing so many people around them.
