Forest department officials have rescued an Asian antelope stranded in a well that had strayed into a village in western India's Gujarat.

The incident took place at Limkheda village in Dahod district on July 12.

In visuals, the animal can be seen being pulled out of the well, with the help of a net laid out, and with collective efforts put in by more than a dozen of villagers and forest officials.

On being rescued, the antelope attempted to escape the net draped around its body, however, failed abjectly.

The villagers then proceed to restrain its neck with a wooden ladder, to safely release it into the wild later.

The blue bull, popularly known as ‘nilgai’ across the northern Indian subcontinent, is the largest Asian antelope, standing five-feet-tall, and more than six-feet-long.
