Power finally restored to UK's only lifting road & rail bridge in Kent

Kent's Kingsferry Bridge connects Isle of Sheppey with mainland Kent and is the UK's only lifting road & rail bridge seen in this footage taken on August 5.

Mains power was lost in November 2019 to the bridge which was built in 1960, and due to its age a special part required was no longer available - requiring a generator to be installed onsite for lifts - which were significantly reduced for yachts & leisure craft.

However, mains power has now been fully restored to the iconic bridge and engineers from owners Network Rail were seen onsite this morning ensuring it's now functioning correctly, with a full height lift for ship Neptune followed by a large yacht.
