The Democratic Alliance Premiere candidate for the Western Cape, Alan Winde, speaks about the Tafelberg/Growthpoint saga and land issues in Cape Town and the Western Cape after he voted at the Batavia school for the 2019 general election.

The Western Cape Government under the control of the Democratic Alliance has been accused of selling the Tafelberg School site at a deliberately under valued price to property development company Growthpoint Properties.

The Tafelberg site was earmarked for social housing before the sale to Growthpoint.

Housing activist group, Reclaim The City (RTC), has waged an ongoing battle to have the sale reversed and have the land set aside for social housing in the City. The group alleges there was corruption involved the sale of land at such a discounted price.
