Some university students in Padang, Indonesia have made a robot called Robana to combat the spread of coronavirus.

It's chief creator, Endri Mulyadi, said it will "help (building) security (staff) in examining and trying to break the chain of spread of the Covid-19 virus, such as checking body temperature, testing wearing masks, ordering people to wash hands."

He added that Robana "will detect a human face wearing a mask or not. To those who do not wear a mask it will say 'please wear a mask' and after a human is detected wearing a mask it will say 'please wash, check temperature and continue washing hands'."

When Robana detects that the anti-viral protective steps have been completed, it lowers its hand and invites entry.

The robot was created by 10 students with diverse backgrounds in programming and electronics. It took one month to build and cost just 11,000,000 rupiah ($775).
