A 40-year-old water tank was demolished in under a few seconds in central India’s Madhya Pradesh on November 7.

The incident was recorded in Betul's Chicholi Municipal Council Ward.

Visuals feature the technicians carrying out the preliminary process which is followed by an earthmover disassembling the massive structure which breaks down within a fraction of seconds, resulting in a pool of dust.

According to reports, residents had been asked to empty their houses and barricades were erected in the region to avoid any mishap during the crucial process.

The tank was constructed by the Public Health Engineering Department 40 years ago and had a storage capacity of 12,500,000 litres of water.

However, it was in shambles for almost 20 years and was efficiently disassembled by the team of eight technicians from Bhopal under the direction of Idris Ahmad Qureshi, CMO of City Council Chicholi.

Water scarcity in the region has sown the need for a new water tank and construction of the same will commence in a month's time.
