Woman builds island amidst farmland for fishkeeping, earns over $33770 a year in northern India
A woman from northern India’s Uttar Pradesh has managed to earn over Rs 25 lakh (USD 33770) in a year after building an island in the middle of a farmland. The novel island has been set up in Kannauj.
A video from the island shows the flora and fauna of the island. A large variety of trees can be seen planted at the island including mango, guava, lemon and banana trees. The spot has become a major tourist attraction for all visiting the region.
A few ducks can also be spotted in the island. Solar panels have also been fitted to provide electricity to the island.
The island is inhibited by a wide range of fish, barring banned fish and catfish. A total of two employees have been hired to take care of the island and its inhabitants. The only approach to the island is through a ferry.
The lady’s son stated that his mother began building this island after being bothered by the insufficient harvest from the infertile land. She observed that irrigation from all nearby fields would collect in her land, after which she gave birth to this idea of building the island where she would rear fish along with growing a wide variety of trees.
He added that his mother keeps unwell and he has offered to help her maintain the island along with working a day-job. If the government wills to help, the island can be developed into a world-class tourist attraction. He aims to be self-sufficient in providing locals with indigenous produce.
