Eindhoven streets deserted due to COVID-19 Christmas lockdown

The daily life around the commercial area, mall and squares in Eindhoven after the 5-week lockdown imposed in the Netherlands.

The prime minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte announced earlier this week via a television address the new measures against the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The Dutch government via the PM announced the new lockdown measures imposed to fight the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, with limiting gatherings but also closing the shops. From Tuesday, all public places including daycare centers, gyms, pools, museums, zoos, cinemas, hairdressers, beauty salons, public markets and non-essential shops will close until January 19 of 2021 along with the schools that will close until Jan. 18.

The Netherlands has recorded more than 600,000 cases and 10,000 deaths during the coronavirus pandemic.
