Philippines earthquake jolts homes as family huddle together for safety

An earthquake shook buildings when it hit the Philippines this evening.

CCTV footage shows homes being shaken by the tremors in Cebu at around 10pm local time. Families who were sitting outside huddled together for safety.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the 6.9 magnitude quake was located 21 kilometres northeast of Bogo City, Cebu, at a depth of five kilometres.

Widespread damage to buildings was reported across the region. PHIVOLCS said aftershocks are expected.
