Motorcycle washed away when rider tries to cross flooded river
A motorcycle was washed away by a swollen river which had flooded a bridge in Pahang, Malaysia, on Sunday afternoon (Jan 3).
The rider and pillion passenger tried to cross through the raging muddy torrents in the city of Kuantan, which had been hit by heavy rain.
However, the force of the current knocked them over and the rider was unable to cling onto the bike, which was carried away downstream.
In the nearby capital Kuala Lumpur, roads were flooded and thousands of residents were evacuated.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Azisman Alias urged the public and road users to stay safe.
