A toddler was mauled by a dog which tried to clamp its jaws round his head but miraculously survived - thanks to his woolly hat. Paul-Naylass Passmore, two, was walking to nursery with his mum Courtney Jones, 25, when a dog ran out of a nearby flat and mauled him. The American Akita sank its jaws into his scalp, literally taking an 8 x 5 cm chunk of flesh off his head, and dropped it on the floor.
