Covid-19 curfew violaters forced to do push-ups as punishment
This is the bizarre moment Covid-19 curfew violators were forced to do push-up as punishment in Thailand.
Officers caught three workers having an after-work drinking session at the back of their pickup truck in Nonthaburi province on July 12 evening.
The men were then asked to stand next to each other while maintaining a distance and do 20 push-ups.
After the unusual penalty, the trio were allowed to leave and go home but officers still escorted them on the way as they were drunk.
Bang Yai Police Station officer Sompol Surasajja said: ‘We were doing regular inspections at night during the curfew to make sure no one violated the decree when we found the three men.
‘They should have been home at that time but instead, we found them drinking at the back of a car. We apprehended them and asked them to do some push-ups as punishment.
‘We would like to remind residents to please stay at home and follow the guidelines to avoid the further spread of the virus.’
Thailand has recorded 363,029 Covid-19 cases and 2,934 deaths as of July 13. Ministers hope a vaccine rollout that started last month will allow them to re-open the country to international tourists before the end of the year.
