Locals caught fish on flooded roads after continuous heavy rain in central Thailand.

The creatures had been living in a nearby stream that overflowed and burst its banks following the deluge on Wednesday afternoon (July 14) in Chon Buri province.

Excited residents waded through the 1-foot-deep water on a 500-metre-long stretch of road and scooped up the fish with their hands, before taking them away to eat.

One local said: "This road gets flooded after heavy rain every year. Now that we are having difficulty earning money because of covid, the fish can help us save money."

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
