A leopard and a much smaller cat appeared to make a truce as they had both become trapped in a well in Kankori, Maharashtra.

According to locals, the leopard had fallen into the well after chasing the cat.

Footage from September 5 shows the leopard edge towards the smaller feline as the duo was stuck in the watery pit.

The cat retreats onto its hind legs as the leopard approaches but does not back down.

Eventually, the leopard seems to lose interest in the cat and allows it to crawl underneath it.

Officials later managed to safely rescue the leopard and cat from the well without and injuries.

A leopard and a cat came face to face after being stranded inside a well together in western India's Maharashtra on September 5. The incident took place in the Kankori village, located in the Sinnar region of the Nashik district.

Visuals feature the clash between the big cat and the smaller one. The leopard jumps out of the water to charge towards the cat. Its face remains just a few inches away from the smaller animal that backs up a little but doesn't run away. The little one bravely faces the vicious predator and manages to co-exist with its superior.

Following the incident, a team of forest officials, including Range Forest Officer Manisha Jadhav, Round Officers Anil Salve and Sujit Bokader, Forest Guard Kiran Gorde, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Pankaj Garg, conducted a rescue operation under the guidance of Range Forest Officer, Anil Pawar.

The team safely escorted the animals back on the ground, and both the leopard and the cat managed to escape without sustaining any injuries. Moreover, according to reports, the big cat fell into the well while chasing the smaller one.
