A leopard was rescued after it strayed into a farm in western India's Gujarat.

The incident reportedly happened in Hathasani village in Rajkot district on February 21.

Visuals showed officials of the Savarkundla forest department at work as they attempted to capture and rescue the leopard. The wild animal was sitting in one room when one of the officers in this operation fired a tranquiliser shot at it.

The big cat was then taken into a big cage and carried away. It was learnt that the leopard, whose age was around five-nine years, was unwell due to wounds on its face and tail.

The rescue operation was led by Pratap Chandu, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Savarkundla division.
