Indonesian police vaccinate students and teachers to allow them to return to school after a year. Officers deliver vaccines to a junior high school in the city of Padang, the capital of Indonesia's West Sumatra province.
The country has recorded a surge in cases and deaths in children, following the spread of the Delta variant.
According to the Ministry of Health, 1,272 children have lost their lives due to COVID-19. Sky News reported that the country's death rate in under-18s is more than three times the world average.
The Indonesian government has deployed police forces to many schools in the country to accelerate the vaccination rate and allow students to return to face-to-face classes.
Kompol Andi Lorena, the head of the Padang Police Operations Division said: "We are targeting every school to be able to vaccinate a thousand students and teachers".
According to police reports, the vaccination target for students and teachers in the city of Padang has reached 70 percent and is soon expected to reach 100 percent.
