An elite housing complex called Lum Park in Padang City, West Sumatra, was struck by a flash flood on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Four people were declared dead as the flash flood swept through the residential area, carrying large pieces of wood. "Four people died, and all have been recovered. Their bodies are at the police hospital in Padang City. In addition to the fatalities, several homes were damaged by the floodwaters," said Brigadier General Solihin, Deputy Head of the West Sumatra Regional Government.

As a result, hundreds of local residents were forced to evacuate by a joint search and rescue team to nearby posts. "This flood occurred when a river embankment near the residential area broke, and water, carrying large pieces of wood, struck the residential area," said Brigadier General Solihin.
