Thousands of Indonesian citizens raised a 200-meter-long Palestinian flag alongside the Indonesian flag as a sign of support for Palestinian independence.
Thousands of Indonesian citizens from West Sumatra Province raised the Palestinian flag 200 meters apart alongside the Indonesian flag in the courtyard of the West Sumatra Governor's Office on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
This action was a form of support for the independence of Palestine, which has long been considered occupied by Israel. The West Sumatra Provincial Government strongly supports Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who continues to speak out at international meetings and advocates for Palestinian independence.
"We support President Prabowo Subianto, who continues to advocate for Palestinian independence. We ask Mr. Prabowo, who has loudly stated that he is ready to send 2,000 troops to Palestine for peace, to send more if possible," said West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah at the rally.
"We have now successfully raised approximately 1.7 billion rupiah to be sent to Pastina to help and ease the burden on the Palestinian people, both for food supplies, health development assistance and education," Mahyeldi concluded.
