A hapless snake was rescued after it was found with its head stuck in a water pipe.

The curious serpent slithered through the rusty tube but became wedged inside in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand on September 4.

Concerned locals found the serpent with its tail wiggling in the air as it desperately tried to free itself. They yanked the rat snake and it was eventually able to free itself.

Onlooker Jin Daluk said: ‘We were in the backyard when we noticed the snake. It was badly stuck and could not move out so we tried to help it.

‘We knew that the snake was not poisonous so we just pulled it and we helped to come out safely. It did not try to attack us.’

The snake then slithered away upon being freed from the pipe.
