This is the terrifying moment two parachutists were tangled up after leaping from a plane.

The police sergeants were on a paratrooper training session with fellow officers when the incident happened in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi province, southern Thailand on September 20.

Footage shows how the pair hopped off the plane but their parachutes became tangled mid-air as they spiralled helplessly down to the ground.

A shocked trainer shouted in fear before speaking through the microphone and instructing the officers to hug each other until they safely landed on the ground.

The filmer, who did not want to be named, said: ‘We thought it would end badly when we looked up at the sky. Fortunately, the two were calm enough to follow the trainer’s instructions.’

The officers followed the trainer’s instructions carefully and held on to each other tightly until they reached their landing target.

After the mishap, the pair was checked for injuries by medics on standby but they were generally fine and proceeded with training.
