The western Indian state of Maharashtra along with the financial capital city of India, Mumbai, observes a state-wide Strike in support of the protesting farmers as well against the killing of Indian farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
'Lakhimpur Kheri killing incident' has been touted as the 'Waterloo moment' for the ruling Narendra Modi government.
For many months now the Indian farmers have been protesting against the implementation of the three controversial Farm laws enacted by the Modi government.
This video shows the cityscape of Mumbai which is on strike. The traffic stays out, the shops, local bus stations are closed. Buses and other public transport are not operating.
