Phoenix, United States - October 05, 2025 10/05/2025 03:38 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to the area of 7th Street and McDowell Road for reports of a two-vehicle collision with one occupant trapped. Crews arrived to find two crossover SUVs blocking the intersection. According to Phoenix police, a male driver in a silver Lexus collided with a black Kia occupied by a male driver and a female passenger. The driver of the Kia was found trapped inside the vehicle. Extensive mechanical extrication was required to free the trapped driver. The driver was extracted from the vehicle at approximately 3:58 a.m. He was transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries. The female passenger was able to self-extricate from the vehicle and was transported to a local trauma center for precautionary evaluation. The male driver of the Lexus was evaluated by firefighters at the scene but refused hospitalization. He exhibited obvious signs of impairment and was subjected to a field sobriety test. He was taken into custody for suspicion of impairment following the test. The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the collision.
