Firefighters in Jakarta, Indonesia, rescued a dog that was cowering underneath a bridge after it had fallen into a river.

A firefighter climbed down into the river and grabbed the stranded canine named Ricky.

He then brought the pooch back to the surface and reunited him with his owner.

This footage was filmed on November 1.

Officers of the North Kedoya Sector Fire Service Post help residents to evacuate a dog that fell into the river as deep as half a meter in Taman Ratu Raya Duri Kepa, Kel. North Kedoya, Kec. Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.

A total of four firefighters were deployed to evacuate the dog named "Ricky".

After about twenty minutes the dog was successfully evacuated and immediately handed over to its owner.

It is not yet known what caused the brown animal to fall into the river.
