Coffin placed at entrance to Africa Energy Week, call for end to use of fossil fuels

Climate activists placed a coffin at the entrance to Africa Energy week in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town early this morning.

As conference delegates entered, wanted signs with the names and faces of various energy ministers from Africa and Energy executives were held by protesters.

Activists are calling for an end to investment in Fossil Fuel extraction and exploration on the continent.

Team leader for 350 Africa, Mr Glen Tyler Davies says they will stop new projects from commencing on the continent. The organisation aims to ensure that communities benefit from renewable energy on the continent.
