A couple survived a terrifying ordeal on Sunday (November 14) in northwestern India when the rope snapped while they were parasailing.

Footage captured at Nagoá beach in the Diu district shows the tourists from Gujarat being pulled along behind a speed boat and apparently enjoying the ride.

Suddenly, as the boat speeds up, the rope snaps sending the husband and wife flying off into the air.

The parachute landed a short time afterwards around 100 metres from the shore and the couple were rescued by lifeguards from the company that runs the parasailing operation.

The pair were not hurt in the incident, according to local media.

A parasailing accident ensued after the support rope broke in western India's Daman and Diu on November 14. The incident took place on the Nagoá beach, located in the Diu district. 

Visuals feature a couple of people getting geared up for parasailing. Within moments, the boat accelerates, and the locals are lifted in the air via a parachute.

However, as the vessel speeds up, the rope connecting the parachute with the boat, breaks, abandoning the pair mid-air. 

After the incident unfolded, the parachute landed around 100 m off the coast and the couple, hailing from Gujarat, was rescued by lifeguards of Palms Adventure and Motorsports (PAM), the private firm running the parasailing service.

However, the man, identified as Ajit Kathad, and his wife escaped unscathed from the accident.
