Poundbury is an experimental urban extension to the town of Dorchester in Dorset, England. Deigned by architect Léon Krier with the full support of HRH The Prince of Wales, on whose Duchy of Cornwall land it is built on.

The focal point of the development is Queen Mother Square where there is a statue of the former Queen ( The mother of the current Queen Elizabeth II).

There has been some controversy as the statue is located at a busy series of road junctions and has caused motorists to be unsure if it is a roundabout or road junction?

Prince Charles had a great deal of affection for his grand mother and wanted the statue to be placed at a key point of the whole development.

The building work started in 1988 and is due to be completed in 2025.
