Six-hours digging as rescuers stop at nothing to save 3 new-born pups from borewell in India
Rescuers in India stopped at nothing on 18 January to save three puppies who had fallen into a deep borewell
According to the member of the NGO Kartvya Stray welfare association, which rescued the pups, at around 10:30am they received a call informing them of sounds coming from inside the borewell. The pups had apparently fallen inside on 17 January.
They were all born just four or five days before they fell into the open borewell at a farm near Temla Road in Khargone city, Madhya Pradesh.
The NGO called in a JCB digger to dig a deep trench to get at the stuck canines.
During the entire mission, the mother dog was standing watch.
According to rescue team members, one puppy was stuck 3m (10 feet) below ground, another at 4.5m (15 feet) and a third at 5.4 (18 feet).
After six hours they finally managed to rescue them all.
