An airport worker looked like he was having fun - firing de-icer liquid from this awesome machine at Heathrow Airport.

The member of ground staff climbed into the cabin of the cherry-picker and used two joysticks to blast the wings of the Emirates Airbus 1380 while it was parked at the gate on January 21.

With freezing temperatures outside, there was a risk of ice forming on the aircraft, causing a potentially deadly accident as frozen items can interfere with the flight.

However, the special machine fired chemicals that cleared away any ice and also prevented it from forming again.

Passengers were inside the aircraft at the time, waiting for departure to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Heathrow Airport in London experienced plunging temperatures in January, falling to -5C on some nights.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued a cold weather alert and encouraged people to 'stay warm and look out for those most at risk' as it warned of 'freezing conditions and prolonged periods of fog' across the centre and south of the country.
