Delighted locals catch killer crocodile that ate their neighbour in Indonesia
This is the moment delighted villagers caught a killer crocodile that ate one of their neighbours.
The 13ft long reptile dragged local fisherman Sabri, 50, under the water in Selagan river near his home in Bengkulu province, Indonesia, on February 21.
Devastated residents searched for the missing grandfather before finding his mutilated body the next day. He was covered in bite wounds and had parts of his limbs missing.
Seeking revenge - and to prevent further attacks - angry locals set rope traps with meat inside as bait along the river.
They finally snared the mammoth beast last Thursday evening on March 10. When the crocodile took the bait, several men dragged it to land and tied its snout with a rope to prevent it from attacking.
Provincial Natural Resources Conservation Centre officer Said Jauhari said: 'The crocodile was caught alive. We evacuated it away from the angry locals to avoid it from being hurt.'
Excited villagers gathered by the river upon being announced that the crocodile had been caught, with some of them posing for pictures with the mighty beast. Some were pointing their phone's flashlight to have a better look at the crocodile while it was tied on the ground.
After the crocodile had been retrieved by local officers, it was sent to the animal conservation facility to be rehabilitated before it can be released to a new habitat. The animal was unharmed.
