Pickup truck crashes into convenience store after losing control on bend
A pickup truck crashed into a convenience store after losing control on a bend in Thailand.
CCTV video footage shows the vehicle skidding on a road before slamming into the building in Chonburi province on February 14.
Rescuers rushed to the area after receiving a call from the shop owner as the driver and his passenger were trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.
The driver Kraivit Pimnual, 20, was pulled out unscathed while his passenger Kornkrit Veerapat, 42, suffered back injuries. They were both taken to the hospital while investigations are ongoing.
Borthong police station captain Somdech Ketwatta said: 'There was a lot of damage in the store due to the strong impact. We are still investigating the cause of the crash.'
The driver Kraivit said he was not familiar with the place and missed the turn.
He said: 'I was not familiar with the place so I missed the turn. I tried to slow down but it was too late.'
Kraivit promised to pay the shop owner for the damages.
Sompong Insawang, 40, said it wasn't the first time that a similar incident happened to her shop so she's thinking of relocating.
She said: 'They all promised to pay but no one did due to the economic state. I am thinking of just moving my business elsewhere.'
