Massive Fire Scorches Ten Buildings In A City In Indonesia

A massive fire hit a shopping and residential area in Kaimana Regency, West Papua Province, at around 20.30 WIT, Thursday night (7/4/2022).
Until now, the exact cause of the fire that caused the fire to burn several buildings, such as workshops, cafes, sewing places, computer shops, food stalls and residents' houses is not known. From the observations, fire engines belonging to the local government and a number of water tank cars belonging to residents were deployed to extinguish the fire that continued to grow.

Firefighters assisted by residents and dozens of police and army personnel also came to the scene to help extinguish the fire manually, but the fire was very fast due to wind gusts to the north.

This incident is the second largest fire that occurred in Kaimana Regency, after previously occurring in the Old Market area, which has now been used as a Kaimana City Park.

According to journalists at the location of the fire, residents worked together to evacuate items from inside their homes and pharmacies, which were adjacent to the workshop. as well as other buildings that have been burnt down.

The owner of the building that was on fire could not be questioned because he was still in shock due to the fire which engulfed their place of business.

When the fire occurred, some of the owners of the place of business were temporarily performing the tarawih prayers. Losses due to fires are estimated at billions of rupiah. The fire can only be extinguished after five hours. Where the fire grew due to strong winds and oil spills from the burning workshop.

Kaimana Police Chief AKBP I Ketut Widiarta, when confirmed regarding the cause of the fire, said that until now his party is still investigating the incident. There were no casualties in this disaster. However, the victims of the fire had to be willing to lose their homes and places of business.
