A major fire hit the Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) on Jalan Teuku Umar, Simpang Kiri District, Subulussalam City, Aceh, a daily market area located in the urban center, on Thursday 10 October 2024.

According to Junaidi Berutu, one of the residents who was an eye witness said that the fire, whose cause was unknown, suddenly grew bigger, the gas station officers tried to extinguish the fire, but these efforts were unsuccessful and the fire continued to burn down the gas stations and the ill-fated pickup.

As an effort to extinguish the fire, four fire trucks belonging to the Regional Disaster Management Agency, Subulussalam City BPBD and a water cannon belonging to Brimob Company 2 Battalion C Pioneer were deployed to extinguish the fire. The officers were overwhelmed because the burning car was difficult to extinguish, every time they sprayed the fire on the car bed, it only got bigger. Luckily, the fire brigade and Mobile Brigade officers continued to struggle to control the fire, until after about 1 hour the fire was successfully contained.
