Fire fighter crew rescues man from raging Himalayan river in northern India
A man was rescued from getting drowned by a crew of firefighters from a river in northern India's Himachal Pradesh.
The incident took place in Manali, a tourist town in Kullu district, on May 25.
Visuals showed a group of people making bridges with ropes and ladders above the river. A rope was tied to a man's waist, who was being instructed by others holding the rope on how to get himself on the rock.
The flow of the river was very strong. It was difficult for both the rescue team and the man to hold the balance. They somehow managed to get the man on the road and slowly directed him to cross the ladder to save himself.
The ladder was held by the rescue members on the opposite side from where the man started walking. The firefighters standing on the banks of the river were also holding the ropes that were used to make the bridge.
According to reports, Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Saroj Nagar, Gandhi Park, Uttar Pradesh got lost in the Beas river. The fire crew reached the spot and made a bridge over the river with the help of rope and ladder and rescued the person on the safe shore and handed him over to the local police.
