In a remarkable rescue operation, fire officers in northern India's Uttarakhand saved a cow stranded on an island in the fast-flowing Saryu River.

The incident occurred in Phulwari in the Kapkot area of Bageshwar district on August 26.

Visuals showed the officers risking their lives by jumping into the strong river currents with life jackets and ropes to reach the cow and bring it back to the shore. The cow had been caught in the river’s forceful flow, making the situation highly perilous. Despite the dangerous conditions, the officers managed to secure the cow and safely bring it to shore after a strenuous effort.

Fire Station Kapkot received information from MDT that a cow was stuck on an island in the middle of the River. Immediately acting on the information, a rescue team under the leadership of LFM Shri Dinesh Chandra Pathak, in charge of Fire Station Kapkot, was dispatched to the scene with the necessary equipment. Upon reaching Phulwari, they saw the cow stranded on the island in the middle of the river. The rescue team, including FM Chandra Shekhar, bravely tied a rope around his waist and navigated the powerful currents to reach the trapped animal. The 112 team was also present on the spot.
