A bizarre video has emerged of a man pulling a giant worm out of the sand on a beach in Australia.

In the footage, captured in Terrigal, NSW earlier this year, the man - who uses the online moniker ‘the Mad Scientist’ - lures the long beach worm out of its hiding place to show spectators.

“Using a smelly dead fish as bait, Jacob the Aussie Larrikin (aka the Mad Scientist), lures a monster beach worm to the surface,” the filmer later wrote online.

“He then manages to grab its head with a pair of pliers and extract it from its sandy home. Jacob celebrates the capture by kissing the worm and doing a dance as he is super excited to have finally caught the elusive beach worm.”
