A kitten was rescued after getting stuck inside a car engine for two hours.

The stray feline was wandering on the roadside pavement when a driver spotted it and pulled over to take it to a safe spot in Ang Thong province, Thailand on June 18.

However, the cat ran under the car as it parked and jumped inside a tight space to hide. The kitten disappeared inside and could find its way out.

Local animal rescuers had to assist the driver as she could not take the kitten out of the engine on her own.

Car owner Nutthawut Sutthiphan, 42, said: ‘This cat was so hard to find. She must have been so scared after being lost across this long road.'

The volunteer rescuers took two hours to find the kitten as rescuers lured it out. When it was finally freed, they found out it was a female kitten estimated to be a month old.

The car driver decided to adopt the stray and named it Boon Lai. She said: ‘She will be my lucky kitten. I hope she would love it in my home.'
