A kitten was born with two faces in Thailand.

The feline with a rare birth defect was given two names - one for each face called Thong Ngein and Thung Thong - after being born in Lampang province on July 17.

Its siblings looked normal and were the last to come out among the litter after their pet owner rushed the mother cat to the hospital.

Footage shows the tiny creature with two faces sleeping beside its siblings and mother.

Pet owner Nong Niw said: ‘My two-year-old cat gave birth to four kittens The three were all healthy and fine, but the last one looked special.'

During labour, the mother cat could not push out the last kitten after six hours and appeared very weak, so they took her to the vet, where a caesarian operation was done.

The kittens were safely delivered, but the pet owner and vets were baffled when one of the kittens appeared to have two faces.

Niw added: ‘ We found that one of them had two faces. I feed them with goat milk because it was a bit weaker than its siblings.'

Despite being weak, the kittens were alive and eats well. Niw said he would take care of them as much as he could.

He said: ‘My kittens are all special, so I would take care of them as much as possible.'

Two-faced cats are called Janus cats, after the Roman god with two faces. The condition is rare and causes the cats to have no identifiable sex.
