A brave schoolgirl caught a wild snake in their neighbour's home in Thailand.

Wannapon Deesawad, 17, volunteers at their local animal rescue centre and helped her terrified neighbour who saw a snake slithering in her kitchen in Prachinburi province on August 17.

The student was leaving for school but made a detour to catch the reptile using bare hands.

Footage shows the youngster in school uniform searching for the snake under the table with a flashlight. Another clip showed her dragging it out from behind the buckets.

Wannapon said: ‘I believe the snake I caught today was trying to escape the flood. It only took me about five minutes to catch this one. I even put it in the sack by myself.'

The student, who loves to study science, started volunteering when she was only 15-years-old.

She said: ‘I volunteer to help people whenever a snake shows up at their home. I've caught hundreds of snakes both venomous and non-venomous. I also used to catch a cobra, a king cobra, and a python.

‘I used to be afraid of snakes but after I went through training, I learned how to catch them properly. I also do funeral cosmetology for free.'

The young animal rescuer then took the 7ft-long rat snake out of the house and placed it inside a sack to free into the wild.
